09/05/10 - NEWS: Directorship change at DPC

PRESS RELEASE: (for immediate release)

Dancing People Company, Ashland's premiere modern dance company, is back under the leadership of a single Artistic Director, Robin Stiehm. This change was by decision of DPC's Board of Directors in August. The DPC Board of Directors, while developing a new strategic plan, concluded that the company would be better supported by having a single Artistic Director responsible for executing the artistic vision for the company, and having a separate Director position responsible for Community Engagement. Peggy Paver was offered the Community Engagement position, chose not to accept and is no longer with DPC. DPC and its Board of Directors wish Peggy success in her future endeavors and would like to express their gratitude for the work she did while at DPC.

Robin Stiehm founded DPC in 1994 in Minneapolis, and brought the Company to Ashland when she moved to Oregon in 2002. Robin and Peggy served as Co-Artistic Directors from 2005 to August 2010, taking DPC to its current position as Ashland's favorite dance company. DPC's programs and focus will remain the same, including their High School residency program which impacts over 1,000 students in the Rogue Valley annually and the popular "Call Back the Sun!" Winter Solstice Performance and Community Dance. "Call Back The Sun!" will take place this year on December 18th and 19th at the Historic Ashland Armory.
