Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Emily Abrahams earned her BFA in Contemporary Dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 2004. She went on to perform with Stephen Pelton Dance Theatre, PPARDance, Charles Moulton and La Femme Panache in San Francisco. Her passion for movement led her to Los Angeles where she became a Sensei of the martial and yogic art form Budokon, and had celebrity clients as head fitness trainer for Tracy Anderson Studios. Currently Emily is in her fourth year performing and teaching with DPC.
Raised in Sixes, Oregon, Veronica DeWitt began her professional training at the University of Oregon when she was eighteen. She graduated with a BA in dance in 2007 and in the same year joined DPC. In 2010 she studied with Susan Marshall at the SUMAC workshop in NYC. She is also a member of Nutshell Mask and Theater, working closely with director Jamie Peck and touring to Pennsylvania. She has choreographed for two productions of Children’s Musical Theater of Oregon. In addition to being a professional dancer, Veronica is also on her way to rock-n-roll stardom as a member of the band Lost Maven. She hopes to create performance art that represents a new generation of expression through the synthesis of multiple artistic disciplines.
Alonzo Lee Moore IV began his dance training in 2002 in Loyola University's Ballet Repertory Program. He has danced for the New Orleans Metropolitan Opera and New Orleans only professional ethnic dance ensemble, Komenka. While with Komenka Ethnic Dance and Music Ensemble Alonzo had the opportunity to perform in three separate European tours, visiting the great countries of Poland, Bulgaria, and France. Alonzo moved to Eugene in 2005 and there performed with Traduza Dance Company and Ballet Fantastique. Alonzo is now in his third season with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. With OSF in 2010, he performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Throne of Blood, directed by experimental theater master Ping Chong. Now a member of Dancing People Company for nearly five years, Alonzo gladly calls Ashland home and DPC family.
Erin Drummond received her early dance training at Ballet Arts Minnesota and went on to earn her B.A. in Dance from Columbia University. She has created and performed with various artists in New York, Maine, Seattle and the Twin Cities including recently Wicked Sister Dance Theatre, RAW Dance Collective, We Dance and Rosy Simas Danse. In 2007 she travelled to Bangkok, Thailand to choreograph and perform with Dhamma Theatre West for the United Nations. She has also created work in places ranging from the Sonoran desert to her own apartment, and continues to be interested in the body's sensorial relationship with place. Erin moved to Ashland, OR to join Dancing People Company in 2010. She is thrilled to join the DPC family.
At the age of 18, Will Cooper (Apprentice) began his unique dance journey with the youth of Kosovo in the international project, Global Motion, and performed at Kosovo's National Theater. Will went on to choreograph for the project and facilitate dozens of youth as a regional coordinator. Back in the U.S., Will studied at Santa Monica College, performing for both their modern and ethnic dance companies. While in L.A., he also performed for Kybele Dance Theater and Donlavy Dance Company and studied at California Institute of the Arts. In 2009 Will returned to his home town of Mt. Shasta, CA where he worked extensively in ritual dance theater with The Flying Lotus Production Ensemble and performed in other local dance and theater productions, such as H2O Manifesto. Will feels blessed to bring his budding artistry to join forces with the growing dance wave of Dancing People Company!
Brianna Rae Johnson (Apprentice) discovered her passion for dance through the dance department at Apple Valley High School, in Minnesota. She went on to receive her B.A. in dance and biology with a concentration in American racial multicultural studies at St. Olaf College in 2010. Since Brianna began dancing, some of the highlights have been performing in works by Cathy Wright, Keith Johnson, Uri Sands, and the St. Olaf Faculty as well as choreographing pieces that have been performed throughout the Twin Cities. She is very thankful to have the opportunity to dance with Dancing People Company.
